What we will not do as groomers, and why

We will not shave double coats, colour pets, force a frightened pet or brush out tight mats. Shaving a double-coated dog for the Mumbai summer strips the layer that protects its skin from the sun. Each refusal below has its reason.

The refusals

  • No cosmetic colouring

Colouring a coat or nails offers no meaningful benefit to a pet's health or wellbeing. We choose not to introduce unnecessary sensory or behavioural stress for aesthetic purposes. We do not colour any breed, for any occasion.

  • No shaving double coats

The undercoat protects the skin from sun and infection. Once shaved, it does not always grow back the same. We rake out the loose undercoat instead.

  • No forcing a frightened pet

If a pet cannot cope, we stop and finish the groom on another day. Two calm sessions beat one bad one.

  • No brushing out a tight mat

A tight mat is locked to the skin, and brushing it pulls with every stroke. We remove it gently instead, and the next groom is easier.

Questions about what we refuse

Why won't you shave my double-coated dog?

The undercoat protects the skin from sun and infection. Once shaved, it does not always grow back the same. We de-shed it properly instead.

Can you colour my pet's fur or nails?

No, for any breed or occasion. Colouring has no benefit to a pet's health or wellbeing. We will not add sensory or behavioural stress for looks alone.

Not sure what your pet's coat needs?

Send a photo of the coat on WhatsApp. We will tell you what we would do, and why.
