Low-stress grooming for dogs and cats in Andheri West
We judge a groom by how your pet feels afterwards as well as by how it looks. We use positive reinforcement, take breaks when a pet needs them, and stop if it cannot cope. You can watch every groom on the screen in our waiting room.
How we keep a groom calm
We plan around the pet
Before we start, we ask about breed, coat, age, health, past grooms and behaviour. A nervous rescue and a senior dog with stiff joints get different grooms.
Positive handling
We use positive reinforcement. With an anxious pet we add desensitisation and counter-conditioning, so each visit gets a little easier.
Reading body language
Shams Lakhani, Founder and Principal and an Internationally Certified Groomer, is trained in canine behaviour. We watch for early signs of stress and slow down before it builds.
Senior and sensitive pets
Older pets, and pets with sensitive skin or special needs, get more time and more breaks. We change the groom around their comfort and mobility.
Senior and special careCats, at their own pace
Cats set their own pace. We take breaks, use only as much restraint as keeps them safe, and stop if a cat cannot cope.
Cat groomingSkin, coat and hygiene
We check the skin as we groom and tell you what we find. Tables and tools are cleaned between every groom.
How you can help before a groom
- Tell us about any health problem, allergy, skin condition or medication
- Tell us how past grooms went, especially anything that frightened your pet
- Let your pet settle and use the toilet before you come in
- Book grooms regularly. Pets groomed often cope better.
- See your vet about any skin, ear or coat worry. Grooming does not replace veterinary care.
We teach the same handling at the academy
Students at Pet Pamperer International Academy learn safe handling, behaviour and grooming ethics alongside technique.
They practise it on real pets, in this salon, from the first week.
Worried about how your pet will cope?
Tell us about your pet on WhatsApp before you book. We will say how we would handle the groom, and whether two shorter sessions would suit better.
