Basics of Pet Grooming is a 24-day course for complete beginners, in our Andheri West salon in Mumbai. It is 90% practical. You work on more than 35 real dogs and cats, from 11am to 5.30pm, six days a week. It is a sound first step before a 40-day course.

Handling and bathing come first
Good grooming starts with safe handling and a proper bath and dry. You learn these first, on real pets, with a tutor beside you. We keep to strict sanitation and welfare rules. Pets with signs of infectious illness or ongoing aggression are handled by our specialist staff. Students follow the tutor's directions on safe handling. For breed styling in depth, choose a 40-day course.
Eight modules
Each one is taught in the salon, on real pets.
- Coat recognition: coat types and the grooming each breed needs
- Skin analysis: spotting common skin conditions and the care each needs
- Bathing and drying: safe, effective methods for every coat texture
- Nail care: trimming and grinding, for dogs and cats
- Hygiene procedures: ear and eye cleaning
- Scissor and clipper work: hygiene trims, under-paw trims and maintenance cuts
- Theory and safety: pet behaviour, sanitation standards and safe handling
- Practical application: hands-on work with more than 35 dogs and cats

- Comfortable closed-toe, non-slip shoes, a notebook and stationery. Your own shears or clippers are optional.

Do I need grooming experience to join a course?
No. The courses are open to complete beginners as well as working groomers. If you have never groomed, the Basics course is a good place to start.
Will I practise on real pets?
Yes, from the first week, under supervision. On the international course you groom more than 75 dogs and cats, along with mannequin practice.
Can I do the grooming course online?
No. Every course runs only in our salon in Andheri West, because grooming is learned hands-on, on real pets.
Can I move from the Basics course to a full course later?
Yes, during the Basics course or near its end. You pay the full programme fee, less what you paid for Basics. We agree the exact amount when you move up.
