Maltipoo grooming: a soft coat that mats fast
A Maltipoo needs a professional groom ideally every 15 days, and brushing every day at home. The coat may be soft and wavy or tight and curly, depending on the parents. Either way, it mats behind the ears, under the legs and on the belly.

Why a Maltipoo coat mats
The hair is fine and keeps growing. Fine hair tangles quickly, curls lock the tangles in, and Mumbai's humidity speeds it up. No two Maltipoo coats are the same, so we look at yours first.
What to do between grooms
Five to ten minutes a day keeps most mats out.
- Brush in layers down to the skin, lifting the coat as you go
- Check behind the ears, under the legs and along the belly every day
- Wipe around the eyes gently with a soft, damp cloth
- If the brush catches on a tight mat, stop and bring your dog to us

We work at your dog's pace, with breaks. You can watch the whole groom on the screen in our waiting area.

Hair near the eyes can irritate them and stain the fur below. We keep the face trimmed. Red or sore eyes need a vet.

Why does my Maltipoo's coat mat so fast?
The hair is fine and keeps growing, so it tangles quickly. Daily brushing down to the skin, especially behind the ears, stops most mats.
Do Maltipoos shed?
Some shed very little, but the loose hair stays caught in the coat and mats. Daily brushing takes it out.
Why does my Maltipoo have stains under the eyes?
Hair near the eyes makes them water, and the tears stain the fur. Keeping the face trimmed and wiped helps. See a vet if the eyes look red or sore.
